Why Study Bible Prophecy?

Nearly one-third of the Bible is prophetic.

Why Study Bible Prophecy?
For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.—2 Peter 1:21

Prophecy is not just a small section of the Bible, limited only to the Book of Revelation. Predictions and prophecy are located throughout the Old and New Testament.

Future Predictions And Prophecy

Did you know that nearly one-third of the Bible was prophecy when it was written? Out of these thousands of Bible verses, there are over 1000 predictions. Half of these prophecies have already come to fulfillment just as predicted. The prophecies that have not been fulfilled are events that are still to come, dealing specifically with the future and the end of this age.

📖
Bible Truth #1: A Large Part of the Bible Is Prophecy

Since such a large portion of the Bible deals with prophecy, can't we assume that we're meant to read and understand what the Bible says about the future?

Prophecies of the Bible are being fulfilled at an astonishing pace as news and events take place that align with what the Bible says will happen in the last days.

The world in which we live today is truly like no other time in history. All of this suggests that we should take a closer look at what the Bible says about this day and age. For as 2 Peter 1:19 says, we have a "sure word of prophecy."

📖
Bible Truth #2: We Are Meant To Understand Bible Prophecy

There are over 1000 prophecies in the Bible. Over 500 have already been fulfilled perfectly. Because prophecy is such a large part of the Bible, this shows us that God does not want it to be ignored. In fact the Bible says specifically to not ignore or hate prophecies. We read in 1 Thessalonians 5:20 to “Do not despise prophecies."

Written Through The Inspiration of God

The Bible is written by God through people for "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." (2 Timothy 3:16)

God gave prophecy to us so we can know what's coming in the near future. It's there for our own good. If we want to find the truth about our future, someone only needs to look to the Bible. For all truth comes from the Bible, which was provided to people from God himself.

📖
Bible Truth #3: The Bible Is The True Word of God Written By People Through The Inspiration of God!

Our ancestors in Christ were filled with the Holy Spirit to write what the Lord spoke to them:

The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.—2 Samuel 23:2

The Bible is 100% Accurate

Fifty percent of Bible prophecies have been accurately fulfilled, providing proof that the Bible is inspired by God and the prophesies yet to be fulfilled will occur in the last days. With half of Bible prophecies perfectly fulfilled can't we assume that the rest will be completed exactly as God says?

With fulfilled prophecy, God is showing us that his Word has come true and will come true in order to help us all find our way to Him.

No psychic, fortuneteller, or mystic seer has the ability to predict the future like our wonderful and omnipotent God. Just think about the chances that someone who tried to predict the future thousands of years ago could be right on just a few of these prophecies, let alone 100%! The statistics are astronomical, beyond human comprehension.

Only God could perform such an amazing feat! What a blessing it is that God has provided us a look at the future and his glorious return.

We can trust in the Bible knowing that "...the word of our God stands forever." (Isaiah 40:8)
